Suitability Assessment of Fish Habitat in a Data-Scarce River

چکیده

Assessing fish habitat suitability in a data-scarce tidal river is often challenging due to the absence of continuous water quantity and quality records. This study comprised an intensive field on 42 km reach which recorded bathymetry physical parameters (pH, electroconductivity, dissolved oxygen, total solids) testing corresponding levels velocity. Frequent sampling was carried out 17 90 locations for laboratory tests. Based this, interpolation technique, i.e., Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW), generates map Geographic Information System (GIS) environment using ArcGIS software determine parameters. Additionally, hydrodynamic model conducted simulate hydraulic Delft3D followed by distribution. During validation, Delft3D-simulated could reasonably mimic most data, GIS featured oxygen. The overall distribution showed lower oxygen level (~3 mg/L) industrial zone compared other two zones during period. On hand, these validated properties were applied Physical Habitat Simulation Model (PHABSIM) set up conduct Labeo rohita (Rohu fish). Thus, represent details studied future decision support systems, this envisaged applying it similar rivers.

Uncertainty in Various Habitat Suitability Models and Its Impact on Habitat Suitability Estimates for Fish

Species distribution models (SDMs) are extensively used to project habitat suitability of species in stream ecological studies. Owing to complex sources of uncertainty, such models may yield projections with varying degrees of uncertainty. To better understand projected spatial distributions and the variability between habitat suitability projections, this study uses five SDMs that are based on...

Rapid assessment of the riparian zone habitat of river

Some riparian areas of the country are in danger of deterioration due to uncontrolled exploitation coupled with loose implementation of environmental protection policies and regulations. Muleta River, a major watershed in Bukidnon, Philippines, was assessed to determine the present condition of its riparian habitat. Abiotic and biotic conditions of the river were assessed. Other factors includi...

Assessment of Fish Biodiversity in Oni River, Ogun State, Nigeria

For the purpose of sustainable exploitation of the fishery resources of Oni River, Ogun State, Nigeria, the fish biodiversity assessment was carried out. This was conducted by enumerating and identifying fish species composition, measuring the fish length, fish weight, assessing the fish abundance and biomass, determining the length-weight relationships and the length-frequency of the fishes. A...

Fish assemblages and habitat ecology of River Pinder in central Himalaya, India

Snow-fed river Pinder -a tributary of river Alaknanda in central Himalaya was explored for fish assemblages and habitat specificity. Altogether 27 fish species were reported from three orders, four families and nine genera. Cypriniformes order was dominating followed by Siluriformes and Salmoniformes. Shannon-Weiner diversity index (3.09 to 4.10) and Simpson index of diversity (0.81 to 0.92) of...
